Chris Busch and team win Etchells Jaguar Series #2

Miami, Flordia - Defeating 80 Etchells to win the second regatta of the Jaguar Series, Chris Busch and team from San Diego, California started off a little rough but came back strong to win with a 23, 3, 12, 2 to finish 9 points ahead of Dirk Kneulman and 11 ahead of last regatta's winner Bill Hardesty.
Chris emailed us from the airport on his way back home.
Here are his thoughts on the regatta.

"With the worlds in mind we wanted to get some big fleet practice in before going to Chicago. This was a great experience with 80 boats on the line and with the shifty post frontal conditions there were lots of opportunities for big gains and losses.

The key to our success was that we made some good comebacks. We won with a 23rd and a 14th. We were 60th and 30th at one point in both those races. Our starts were good but with 8o boats and 2 to 2.5 mile beats, you could get plenty of leverage out there.

It was anyone’s regatta to win. We just happened to have a good last race. Our big move was gybesetting in the last race. We went from 12th at the first mark to 2nd. Little risky but it paid huge. My team was Peter Burton, Chad Hough and Filippo Bovio who is a local Miami sailor and head of Slam Clothing USA."- Chris Busch
