Classic Sparkman and Stephens Racing Yawl BOLERO Undergoes Full Restoration at Rockport Marine

Rockport, Maine, – Last fall, Bolero, the famous Sparkman and Stephens yawl, arrived at Rockport Marine for a complete restoration. Under the leadership of shipwright John England, Bolero will have new frames, topside planking, deck, deck framing, interior and systems by the spring of 2010.

The 73-foot Bolero was originally built in 1949 to the highest standards at the Henry B. Nevins Yacht Yard. Framed in oak and double planked using cedar and mahogany, she was built for a prominent Newport yachtsman with two requirements: performance and comfort. To that end, she is an elegant hybrid, combining the attributes of a competitive racer with an attractive and roomy interior. With a 51-foot waterline, she was as big as she could be and still qualify for the ocean races of her era. - For more info on Bolero visit http://www.rockportmarine.com/
