America's Cup: Alinghi puts hard word on Oracle

America's Cup champion Alinghi of Switzerland is asking a New York judge to disqualify challenger BMW Oracle Racing of San Francisco unless it provides a measurement certificate for its giant trimaran within 14 days.

Alinghi's filing today in the Supreme Court of the State of New York came a day after BMW Oracle Racing asked Justice Shirley Kornreich to hold Alinghi in contempt unless it follows the Racing Rules of Sailing without alterations.

Kornreich is set to hear arguments from the bitter rivals in the Manhattan court next week.
The boats are scheduled to face off in a best-of-3 series beginning on February 8 for the oldest trophy in international sports. -AP
