[Desafío Español] The 2nd Trofeo Desafío Español is over with all six races completed. The last two races have been held with eight knots of wind and the four conteders sailing at their best. Desafío Español has finished the day with a fourth and a third position and has learned more about the behaviour of ESP97 with light winds.

Paul Cayard has been able to cross the bow of SUI100 in the first upwind leg after a good start, but once again the Spanish boat has lost ground on the way to the first mark and has rounded fourth. ESP97 has sailed in that position until the end.

For the second race, the wind has picked up a little bit, but not enough for ESP97 to behave as it does with heavier winds. Desafío Español has crossed the finish line third behind Alinghi and Luna Rossa.

After the races, Paul Cayard, skipper of Desafío Español, said: “It wasn’t a good day… again. We learnt something about the boat light air. I am not happy with the speed on light air and we have some work to do”. -
